Examples of Characteristics of Innovative Magnetic Elastomer Materials Developed by PMP

 

  • Magnetic elastomers can be molded into different shapes, and their hardness can be adjusted according to requirements.
  • The magnetic force and pole width can be customized based on different usage scenarios and requirements.
  • No outgassing, with low molecular weight siloxanes (D4, D5, D6) less than 1000 ppm.

PMP | Innovative Functional Materials – Conductive and Vibration-Damping Multifunctional Elastomer Material (Example)

PMP can customize formulations based on customers’ product functional requirements while ensuring compliance with various reliability tests.

 

Example Application:

When applied in product design, these materials can achieve multifunctionality such as waterproofing, conductivity, EMI shielding, impact absorption, and preventing resonance noise.

(A) Formulation of Conductive Materials:

PMP can formulate silicone and various composite rubbers by incorporating different conductive powders, such as conductive carbon black, silver-coated glass, silver-coated aluminum, graphite, etc., and adding different silanes. By adjusting the filler content, PMP can produce functional conductive rubber materials with varying resistance values that pass rigorous reliability tests.

(B) Formulation of Vibration-Damping/Absorbing Materials:

Material damping varies with temperature and frequency. For example, water and beef are soft at room temperature and can absorb impact energy when struck. However, when frozen at low temperatures, they become rigid and cannot absorb impact energy. At room temperature, when an elastic ball falls freely due to gravity and collides with a metal plate, the potential energy, minus the energy absorbed by the material, converts into kinetic energy for rebound. The more energy the material absorbs, the less rebound energy remains, resulting in a lower rebound height. This indicates that the material at room temperature has better vibration absorption and is more effective at preventing resonance noise caused by different frequencies.

In 2005, PMP recommended to 3C top brand customer to use the strong bonding theory of actual products and different materials after cross-linking reaction to turn it into an environmentally friendly process, which can achieve high quality and can be used in mass production.

(I). Example of PMP dissimilar bonding material:

The advantage is that the bonding is formed by chemical bonding and is excellent in water, gas and dust resistant compared to general plastic interlock with substrate by physical bonding.

  • Curing reaction temp. is 120oC ± 15°C.
  • Temperature & curing time of A/B mixing pipe and storage environment should be well controlled.
